Media 3 has been chosen by the Gosport Ferry Ltd. as the agency to handle all advertising sales.
The appointment, made on 28th March 2011, involves selling advertising space on the new £5m Gosport Pontoon, set to be delivered in May, and on four boats and the Portsea pontoon.
Media 3 will oversee the introduction of digital advertising displays on the new pontoon using 47” HD monitors which will be supplemented by static poster display advertising. There will also be poster advertising on all boats and the Portsea Pontoon.
Gosport-based Media 3 won the work ahead of two other bidders and managing consultant Brian Seeney said he was “thrilled to get on board with the ferry at this exciting time.”
He added: “The arrival of the new Gosport Pontoon begins another era for the Ferry which has served Gosport for over 125 years.
“We are delighted to be the company chosen to work on this exciting project and to be the ones to take the Ferry Company forward into the digital advertising world which is the fastest growing advertising medium since the Internet.”
The Gosport Ferry is the busiest short route ferry service in the country, taking approximately 3.5 million passengers each year on the four minute crossing between Gosport and Portsmouth Harbour.
BIGGESET LOCAL TARGET AUDIENCE
The Ferry operates every day (except 25th December) carrying passengers to work, to shop at the vibrant Gunwharf Quay or to visit local attractions around Gosport and the harbour area.
The Ferry company’s longstanding claim that “It’s shorter by Water” eliminates the need for a near 30 mile plus return trip by road from Gosport to Portsmouth.
“The passengers who see advertising on the pontoons and the ferry boats are the biggest single target audience for advertisers to reach locally.
“Now advertisers will be able to promote their products and services using the exciting opportunities that digital presentation offers but also through the tried and tested route to market of traditional poster advertising,” said Brian Seeney.
Commenting on the appointment of Media 3, Keith Edwards, Director and General Manager of Gosport Ferry Limited said: “The arrival of the long awaited new Gosport pontoon has prompted us to evaluate our traditional advertising and consider a new approach using modern media applications.
“We were seeking an experienced local company to provide a turnkey solution, with innovation that will provide advertising displays that are commensurate with the modern design of the pontoon, whilst retaining the flexibility for the advertisers in our various locations.
“I am delighted that Media3 match our aspirations and we look forward to them working with us at this significant milestone in the Company’s history.”
In addition to advertising sales, Media 3 will also help promote the Ferry Company’s programme of Summer Solent Cruises which includes trips around the Solent, to Beaulieu River and Cowes Week.
